Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Cut Seller Fees From Dec. 1

Thailand's commerce ministry got Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop to roll seller fees back to January rates for 6 months — how to register.

Thailand’s Department of Internal Trade (DIT) said on November 2 that it is inviting small online sellers to check their eligibility and register for a six-month cut to Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop’s mandatory seller fees. The cut, agreed with Commerce Minister Supajee Suthumpun’s office on October 28, rolls each platform’s GP and infrastructure fees back to January 1, 2026 rates, running December 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027. DIT estimates the rollback saves registered sellers up to 1,930 million baht combined, reaching roughly 1.2 million sellers.

The Cut, Platform by Platform

Lazada’s mandatory fees fall from 9.00–17.50% to 7.50–11.60%, up to 42.9% lower. TikTok Shop goes from 13.38–21.94% to 11.24–17.66%, up to 35% lower. Shopee drops from 8.03–19.26% to 8.03–13.91%, up to 33.3% lower. The rollback covers only GP and infrastructure charges, not advertising, so a seller running Lazada’s Sponsored Max campaigns still pays ad costs on top.

Who Actually Qualifies

The discount applies only to sellers registered, or who register, as e-commerce operators. Individuals qualify with annual sales up to 1.8 million baht per platform; registered businesses qualify up to 3.5 million baht per platform — the cap applies separately on each platform, not combined. Every category qualifies except electronics, excluded because DIT says origin is hard to verify. Sellers under these thresholds make up over 80% of each platform’s sellers.

What to Check Before December 1

  • Confirm your e-commerce registration now: individuals register at a district office or local administrative organization; businesses go through the Department of Business Development. Verification there takes about 10 working days, so a late start can miss the first batch.
  • Watch your seller center for a registration invitation — platforms send these in batches from November, and a late registrant simply lands in a later batch, not excluded.
  • Check your annual sales per platform against its own threshold; qualifying on one doesn’t carry to another.
  • Sell electronics alongside other categories? Ask your platform which listings still qualify — the exclusion covers the whole category.

Sellers who tracked TikTok Shop’s flood shipping-deadline relief earlier this year will recognize the pattern: once registered, the cut applies automatically.
